Embracing the Divine Purpose: Finding Unity of Purpose in the Age of Fragmentation

This presentation was aimed at opening a serious conversation about the issues to bring the fundamental truths of our faith to bear on intellectual and academic issues that will allow us to approach directly our divine purpose (i.e., how to deploy a “Gospel Methodology).

As an LDS/Christian institution seeking to fulfill its mission in a fragmented world, we are faced with an ever-shifting set of issues that can interfere with our divine purpose. Currently, we are taking on this challenge by giving considerable attention to the Second Century Address by then President Spencer W. Kimball, and to our mission statement. The difficulty seems to be in finding ways to bring the fundamental truths of our faith to bear on intellectual and academic issues, i.e., how to deploy a “Gospel Methodology.” This presentation was aimed at opening a serious conversation about these issues that will allow us to approach directly our divine purpose.

Speaker: Richard Williams, Professor in Counseling Psychology and Special Education
