Beginning Canvas

This class, offered for teachers and TAs, is taught one day per week over three days, for 90 minutes each day. It is designed for classroom teachers who are using Canvas as a classroom resource for the first time, and covers (among other things):

  • Course setup and settings
  • Course navigation
  • Modules
  • Communicating with students
  • The Rich Content Editor (RCE)
  • Configuring and Managing Assignments
  • Grading (SpeedGrader)
  • Managing grades (The Gradebook)
  • Archiving and copying content
  • Your Questions and Answers

This class consists of 4 hours of instruction, and a 1-2 hour "hands-on" workshop where you can work (individually or together) on your course(s) with live assistance available.

New opportunity: You have the option of concurrently attending DesignPLUS during the same weeks, which will allow you to add more design and function options to their Canvas content - doubling your knowledge and options. See the DesignPLUS schedule tab for times.

Schedule / Options

  • Beginning Canvas- Fall Start (Live classroom and remote): Tuesdays, August 9-16, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.. + optional workshop Friday, Aug. 19, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. in Tanner Building (TNRB) W108
    Optional: Take concurrently with DesignPLUS - Fall Start on the same weeks, Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
